LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman accused of kidnapping her niece and nephew in Cape Coral has been sentenced to over 5 years in jail.
Wednesday, 30-year-old Kristina Pantalias took a plea agreement on charges of Interference with Custody, Grant Theft, Aggravated Child Neglect, Child Abuse and drug possession.
Detectives say Pantalias had just been released from jail when on May 12th, 2015 she stole a car, broke into her sister's home and took her 6-year-old niece and 10-year-old nephew. She reportedly took them to a Fort Myers apartment, where the niece was attacked in the face by a dog, and the nephew was found with drugs stuffed into his pocket.
At Wednesday's Child Hearsay Motion, Pantalias agreed to 5 years 10 months in a correctional facility, followed by 8 years probation.
Detectives say the children are doing well, but the girl is still getting medical treatment for her injuries.
