Cape residents to meet about NW Cape's future

Posted

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Wednesday evening a meeting will be held at the Christa McAuliffe Elementary School in Cape Coral for residents to vote on their favorite ideas for 35 acres of the Northwest Cape.

The area known as "Cape Seven Islands" is off of Burnt Store Road between Tropicana and Embers Parkway. The Northwest neighborhood association asked more than 800 members on a questionnaire what they want to see developed on the land. The top three items were parks, waterfront dining, and single family homes.

"I don't want to see any homes, apartments or condos, but i think some nice shops to attract people to the cape," said resident Kraig Decker about what he thinks should go on the 70 square miles of land.

The meeting will be held at 06:30pm and is open to the public. Top votes will then be discussed by the city council.
