LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A crash in Lehigh Acres left a car in a canal, but thankfully with no major injuries.

It happened along Alabama Road South near Preston Street shortly around 5:30am.

Deputies say the car was driving along Alabama Road when it went off the roadway and flew across the canal, settling on the opposite bank of the canal.

The car's driver, Vladimir Destin, told Fox 4 at the scene at the steered off the road a bit and then overcorrected.  He lost control and went off the roadway, went through some bushes, and flipped twice in the air as it crossed the canal.

The car still had its headlights and windshield wipers on when our crew arrived.

"I was asking God, man, 'Is it my time?' It's too early for me to be taken," he said.

The driver was reportedly on his way to work at a second job when the crash happened.
