Car fire closes off Lehigh Acres street

Posted

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- A car fire temporarily blocked off Burlwood Avenue between Bermar Street and Burbeck Street, late Thursday night.

The car, which appears to be a Kia Soul, was totaled after being engulfed in flames. The Lehigh Acres Fire Department and Lee County Sheriff's office responded to the incident. They were seen investigating into early Friday. The area is isolated, containing only a few homes and one construction business.

This is the second incident involving car fires in Lehigh Acres. Last week about ten minutes away, two cars were torched at an apartment complex on Stafford Creek Boulevard near Homestead Road. Witnesses claim they saw someone pour liquid onto a car and then set it on fire during that incident. The flames quickly spread to a car nearby, destroying both of them. Deputies are still searching for the people responsible for those fires.

Fox 4 is working to find out whether these car fires are related.
