Car thieves steal Porsche, Rolls Royce from Naples neighborhood

Car thieves struck an exclusive area of Naples over the weekend, stealing two high-end cars. According to Naples Police reports, the crooks got away with a Porsche and a Rolls Royce in the Port Royal neighborhood.

The owner of a 2015 Rolls Royce Ghost told police he left the car in his driveway on Kings Town Drive Saturday night around 10 p.m. The owner reported that the keys were left in the vehicle. But by 9 a.m. Sunday, he realized his Ghost had disappeared.

One block over on Spyglass Lane, another car was reported stolen - a 2016 Porsche Panamera. The owner told police that she wasn't sure if the doors were locked or not.

Todd Rosenthal of Naples Motorsports, a dealer in exotic cars, said he believes that the car thieves were professionals.

"A lot of times with the real high-end cars, you don't need certain documentation to get them...into a new country, he said. "That's most likely where they'll end up, is in a boat somewhere."

He said that because many cars are stolen for their parts, thieves usually don't target exotic vehicles.

"Mostly because they're not driven a lot, which means they're not involved in accidents...which means that the parts aren't needed," Rosenthal said.

A spokesman with the Naples Police Department told Fox 4 that they can't rule out that the cars could be recovered, but the fact that two cars were stolen from the same neighborhood - in the same time period - increases the chances that the crimes were the work of professionals.
