Celebrate 'Drink Wine Day' with a wine tour

Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- February 18 is observed annually as National Drink Wine Day, and if wine is your drink of choice, one local college's alumni association has an event for you.

Florida Gulf Coast University is hosting a Walking Wine Tour as part of their Alumni Weekend 2016.  Guests can experience a guided walking tour of campus, while enjoying several stops with light appetizers and a variety of cocktails.

The tour costs $10 for lifetime FGCU alumni members and $15 for non-lifetime FGCU alumni and guests.

The event starts at 6pm in the lobby of Sugden Hall.  Visitors can park in Garage 1.

Wine does have its benefits after all. Moderate drinkers of wine have lower risks of liver disease, type II diabetes, certain kinds of cancers, heart attack and stroke. It also can reduce the bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase the good (HDL).

And while you're at it, you may want to pair that wine with a nice seafood dish.  Well as luck would have it, February 18 is also "National Crab Stuffed Flounder Day."  So suggest a nice Reisling or Chardonnay to go with the dish.
