Convicted home invader sentenced to life in jail

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Lee County man convicted in connection with a violent home invasion in Lehigh Acres two years ago will now spend the rest of his life in state prison.

26-year-old Johnny Wade, a repeat offender beginning at age 15, has pleaded guilty to breaking into a woman's home on 12th Street Southwest, holding her at gun point, and threatening to kill her before ransacking the place and taking off.

Wade was on the run for several weeks before he finally turned himself into authorities.

"An anonymous tip put detectives on Wade’s trail, and their thorough follow up investigation led to a warrant being issued, and now that Wade has been found guilty on both charges, he will absolutely no longer be a threat to the Lee County community ever again,” says Trish Routte with Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.
