The coronavirus pandemic has caused businesses from around the world -- both big and small -- to suffer and it appears the Walt Disney Company is no exception.

Disney announced it will furlough "employees whose jobs aren't necessary at this time" starting April 19, the company's spokesperson said in a press release.

Disney had been paying its hourly park employees since closing its doors in March due to coronavirus concerns.

Furloughed employees are eligible to keep their full health care benefits, according to ABC-affiliate station WFTV.

Once furloughed, the workers are eligible to receive an extra $600 each week in federal compensation through the country's $2 trillion coronavirus relief bill, in addition to receiving money from the state's unemployment insurance, WFTV reports.
