Most Southwest Floridians say $600 stimulus will go toward bills

FORT MYERS, Fla -- Most Southwest Floridians tell Fox 4 their $600 stimulus check won't go toward spending, but instead toward paying bills.

We asked people on Twitter, Facebook and at a handful of Fort Myers locations about this Tuesday.

"I'm just trying to stay ahead of the ones I do have. Maintain and try not to get way behind. The stimulus check will be a real good help because hours are slowing down," said Harry Tyre, Fort Myers.

Some contributing factors might be the fact that Americans are set to receive half of what they with the first round of stimulus checks.

Another reason is the state's unemployment numbers, which saw relatively no change between October and November. 6.4%percent of Floridians are still without a job.
