LEE COUNTY, Fla-- People who are unemployed because of the Coronavirus no longer need to wait a week to apply for unemployment benefits.

Governor DeSantis has also waived the work search and online work registration requirements. That means you will not be required to register in Employ Florida or submit information on a biweekly basis on the employers contacted each week. These exceptions last until May 8th.

Director of Economic Opportunity Ken Lawson signed an agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor to execute the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act in Florida.
