Damaged overpass closes lanes of I-75

FORT MYERS, Fla. (UPDATE 3/9)- All four southbound I-75 lanes are open to traffic near the Tice Street overpass. The right outside lane and shoulder will be closed again Thursday March,10th and Friday March 11th from 9AM to 4PM while crews work to repair the Tice Street overpass. 

Motorists are urged to plan extra travel time and to use caution while driving. 


FORT MYERS, Fla. (UPDATE)- Tice Street is open, three of the four southbound lanes are open and the fourth lane will remain closed throughout the evening and night hours. 


FORT MYERS, Fla. --  An accident on southbound Interstate 75 has caused the closure of one traffic lane.

The crash happened around 1pm where Tice Street passes over I-75, just south of the State Road 80 exit (#141/Palm Beach Boulevard).  The right two of the four travel lanes are closed.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, equipment on a truck struck the overpass.  There is apparent damage to the overpass, and Tice Street is also closed.

Eastbound Traffic on Tice Street needs to travel north on Lexington Avenue to State Road 80 as a detour.  Westbound traffic on Tice Street needs to take Stanley Road north  to Orange River Boulevard, then west to State Road 80.
