LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's detectives have arrested a couple they say are suspects in dozens of car burglaries in the Lehigh Acres area.

Michael Gonzales- Galas and Sady Zaldivar face burglary, grand theft and fraud charges.

Detectives say their take over a three month crime spree includes more than 50 designer purses, along with laptop computers, watches, credit cards and even a 15-horse outboard motor, stolen right off a boat parked alongside a residence.

Proactive work by deputies broke the case when they spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Shell gas station at the intersection of Loop Boulevard South and Homestead Road North.

Inside the car was Gonzales-Galas and Zaldivar, who consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, deputies found items consistent with burglary tools including gloves, a flashlight, and an empty backpack.

Upon further investigation, detectives were able to identify the couple as the same persons they have on surveillance video using stolen credit cards.

A search warrant was obtained for their residence, which turned up more than 250 suspected stolen items.
