A Lee County man is facing a DUI charge after crashing into the bedroom of a Cape Coral home Tuesday morning.

25 year-old Jesse Long is facing a dozen charges, including DUI and driving with a revoked license.

According to an incident report from the Lee County sheriff's office, Long drove his pick-up truck into a home in the 4200 block of Vincennes Street in Cape Coral.

The home Long crashed into just so happened to be across the street from where he lives.

"It was the guy across the street," said Paul Kenney. I guess he made a right hand turn instead of a left."

Kenney lives next to the apartment Long crashed into. He told Fox 4 he overheard the moment the car slammed into his neighbor's bedroom.

"Like an explosion, a big bang," said Kenney. "I guess when you run into the side of a house that's what it sounds like."

According to deputies, the impact forced a man sleeping inside the home out of his bed.

"The truck hit the bed and knocked the bed across the room from what I understand with him in it, "said Kenney

The incident report states Long told a deputy he "was just going home" and "was on my cell phone." However according to police, when a field sobriety test was conducted Long couldn't pass.

A look into his background shows he was arrested for DUI in October.  Two prior arrests in 2015 consisted of several charges including drug possession and resisting arrest without violence.

A man who identified himself as Long's neighbor told fox 4 he recently had a child and described him as a good guy.

"A lot of stuff got hurt and everything but he came away unscathed, everybody. no one got hurt at all thank God."

No one was injured in the crash; however, the damage Long caused is something his neighbors are still coming to grips with.

"I mean stuff happens and you just hope it doesn't happen in your neighborhood and it happened here," said Kenney.
