NAPLES, FLA — Vote by mail drop of boxes, were the clear star of the show in Collier county Tuesday, as many in the county opted to skip poll voting altogether.
"I got my families votes together and I just came and dropped them off today," said Valeria Minuche.
They're people like Minuche who says this is her first time being able to vote in a presidential primary.
"I say everyone should try it, it was super easy and I think no matter what your voice is heard," said Minuche.
But there were some vote by mail skeptics.
"In person is better. Just to make sure. It's more secure," said one couple.
Despite this, the Supervisor of Elections, Jennifer Edwards, says the majority of the more than 78-thousand votes cast, came in the form of those blue vote by mail envelopes.
"We're very pleased," she said.
Because of COVID-19, Edwards says they'll be expecting many more will be voting this way in November...And they'll be ready with more boxes.
"We already have probably over 90-thousand requests for mail ballots for the general election," said Edwards.
She also says she'll be collaborating with other elections officials across the state to find the best ways to accommodate even more of those ballots in November.
