Fake bomb threat called in to avoid drug test

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Punta Gorda woman is facing charges after being accused of calling in a fake bomb threat at the State Probation Office.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, a bomb threat was called in to the office on Marion Avenue on Monday afternoon.  Staff members called 911 and evacuated the building.

No suspicious devices were found in the building, but investigators noted that drug testing was taking place for people on probation at the time of the bomb threat.

Detectives later identified 30-year-old Tiffany Beasley as the person who called in the bomb threat.  She admitted to detectives that she made the threat due to concerns that her girlfriend would fail her drug test that day.

Beasley was placed under arrest and transported to the Charlotte County Jail where she was charged with making a false report of planting a bomb or explosive device and she was held in lieu of no bond.

Beasley has several previous arrests on record in Charlotte and DeSoto counties, including petit theft, failure to pay child support, disorderly conduct, and leaving the scene of a crash.
