CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers are investigating a fatal crash just south of Punta Gorda that closed Burnt Store Road for three hours Monday morning.
The crash is in the 13100 block of Burnt Store Road, not far north of the Tern Bay development.
According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS, a flatbed pickup truck struck a tree just after 8 a.m., and the sole occupant of the truck has died.
Traffic is being diverted from Burnt Store to U.S. 41 for about three hours, but all roads have reopened.
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Robert Campbell, Jr. of Venice.
