LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Alva woman died Tuesday morning after troopers say she drove in front of a dump truck.
The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. on State Road 31 at the intersection with N. River Road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a car driven by 58-year-old Leida Herrada of Alva was stopped at the stop sign on N. River Road, but pulled out into traffic as a dump truck approached.
The truck hit the driver's side of the car, killing Herrada. A passenger in the car suffered minor injuries as well.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The crash is still under investigation.
The northbound lane of State Road 31 was closed for several hours Tuesday while the crash was being investigated.
