UPDATE (7:30AM) -- Lanes of Imperial Parkway have reopened to traffic after an overnight gas fire.

------------------------------------------

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies say parts of Imperial Parkway in Bonita Springs are closed due to a natural gas fire.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Pike Electric workers hit a gas line which later caused the fire at Imperial Parkway & Meadow Lane.

The fire is now out but more than 450 residents were without power overnight due to the fire.

That number is now reduced to 27 customers without power.

Florida Power and Light says the company is waiting for the all clear from the Bonita Springs Fire Department before they get to work on those power lines still affected. Once that happens, they expect power to be back on within an hour. The latest fime frame from FPL is 11 a.m.

The electric company is working with Teco Gas on the operation.

The Bonita Springs Assistant Fire Chief Greg DeWitt says the fire burned for so long because firefighters were trying to keep the fire controlled so it wouldn't spread to other parts of the gas line.

You are asked to avoid the area for the next several hours.
