The FBI said Wednesday they are searching for a former Palm Beach Gardens middle school teacher on child pornography charges.
The suspect, Corey Dejuan Perry, 33, of West Palm Beach was last seen in the area on March 24 around 2 p.m.
Perry was a teacher and coached basketball at H. L. Watkins Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens. He also is credited with launching the Robotics and Engineering Academy at the school where he was even recognized by the governor for his efforts.
A federal arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Perry for production of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and enticement.
During a Wednesday news conference, Palm Beach County Superintendent Robert Avossa said some of Perry's former students are possible victims in the case. "We've made all of our assets available to their families in terms of counseling, as well as other students at the school."
“As a lifelong educator, I am disgusted at what I have learned,” Avossa added. “This individual has embarrassed his school, his community and his entire profession by harming the most Important thing entrusted to him.”
Perry is 5 feet 8 inches, 275 pounds and has a small, circular birthmark on his left shoulder.
Anyone with information as to his whereabouts, or who thinks they may be a victim, are urged to call the FBI in Miami at (754) 703-2000 or your local police department.
If any parent or guardian believes their children may have had electronic/social media contact with Perry, they are also urged to contact the above-mentioned number and preserve such devices/communications for review by investigators.
The Palm Beach School Board Police Department, West Palm Beach Police Department, the State Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI continue their investigation.
