Gas leak contained at Port Charlotte daycare

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (UPDATE)- Shortly after 6:20 PM, the propane gas leak was contained and secured.  Child Care Center workers were let into the building to collect belongings and all children were picked up safely from the child care center. 


PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Fire and EMS are responding to the report of a gas leak located behind Rainbow's End Child Care Center at 2100 Loveland Boulevard. 

The call came in after a child care worker smelled gas and took the appropriate action by evacuating the children and staff to Seventh Day Adventist Church. 

Emergency responders confirmed an under ground propane gas tank was leaking between the daycare and the Salvation Army next door. 

Both buildings have been evacuated and no injuries occurred. 

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office closed Loveland Boulevard from Midway Boulevard to Rampart Boulevard. 

Parents are able to pick their children up at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
