NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Wildlife officials recently caught and relocated an alligator that was spotted in the parking lot of Atwater Elementary School in North Port.

According to North Port Police, officers were assisted by Florida Fish and Wildlife on the catch.  The reptile was then taken to Cecil Webb Wildlife Management Area for release.

One parent wrote to thank Officer Fisher for showing her son a lesson on safety.  "My son was in the car and he offered for him to come out to see the alligator and give him a lesson on safety when he is around water and if he were to be close to an alligator. My son talked about this all weekend," she wrote.
