Gridlock, ticket problems turn Trump supporters away

Some say it took them hours to get in

Driving to the Germain Arena was half the battle Monday.

"It took us about an hour to get here from Daniels Parkway, we got stuck in traffic near FGCU coming down Ben Hill Griffin," said Michael Olaski, who was among thousands trying to see GOP Presidential Nominee Donald Trump speak.

"I kept getting circled around all the different entrances because the police blocked all the different entrances I wanted to get into," said Sally Vandergriff.

Miromar Outlets served as overflow parking, but that was full two hours before Trump arrived.

Even those who made it through the gridlock, couldn't bear the heat and long lines into the arena.

"I really hate leaving, but there was a lot of people and big line." said Candice Ingraham.

There were some who were willing to stick it out, but ended up leaving involuntarily.

"I said, why don't we have a line for people with tickets and a line for people without tickets"

But Robert Burns was asked to leave the event by a deputy, before his question was answered.  He never made it inside, and wonders why he reserved a ticket in the first place.

"We spent time online, we did what they asked, we got the tickets."

The lesson on this day maybe not who got tickets, but who got here the earliest.

"If I had it to do all over again, I would definitely leave earlier," said Gail Gavin.
