FORT MYERS, Fla. -Patrons of The Connection restaurant are in a state of despair. An icon in the Riverdistrict, will soon be closing.

Pam Lemmerman spent the last 30 years running the landmark eatery.

She's been a leader in promoting all the events that has made downtown so popular.

But is she a victim of her own success?

She led the charge, organizing events.

She's helped organize everything from art walk to bike night, making the Riverdistrict hugely popular.

It's made a difference in attracting more restaurants and shops to the area.

And, other merchants appreciate her.

Karen Allegretti, owner of Market Earth says, "Well, were going to miss her terribly. I mean shes been a huge champion of downtown, particularly the riverdistict."

But Lemmerman is philosophical about how its all played out.

"Well. that's just the nature of the beast. That's what you do. you create the excitement and people want to come," says Lemmerman.

Her customers aren't ready to let go and neither is the board of the Downtown Redevelopment Association.

The organization is asking Pam to take on the position of events coordinator so she can keep the ball rolling for the Riverdistrict.
