Holiday Heist: Sculptures worth thousands stolen

Posted

A Wyoming man visiting Naples made a discovery Tuesday morning that left him sick to his stomach.

45 sculptures worth $230,000 were stolen from a storage facility off Collier Boulevard.

"They basically stole 23 years worth of work," said Ben Foster.  Foster is a 3rd generation sculptor in town for an art show next week.

"All of my show display is stolen, and those can't even be replaced, before the show date."

Among the stolen pieces: A six foot tall bronze bear.

"A number of blue heron bronze sculptures that were life sized, from 6 foot tall to 4 foot tall, and many wildlife sculptures."

Foster is not sure of the thieves knew there was artwork inside the trailer.  He's offering a cash reward for information leading to its return.

The vehicle has a Wyoming license plate number 10-12049.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 239-252-9300.
