8 college basketball teams including FGCU are squaring off this weekend in the Gulf Coast Showcase at the Germain Arena.
The men played earlier this week, now it's time for the ladies to take the court in the 4th year of this event.
"This is probably the number one in season women's tournament in the country," said a fan who goes by the name "Touchdown Tony."
Although FGCU lost to 8th ranked Ohio State, Tony says the game is a stepping stone for the program.
"They have so many new people, it's going to take a while to develop that program."
And for more established programs like Ohio State, the tournament gives the Buckeye faithful in Southwest Florida, a chance to show their passion.
"Ohio State fans travel all over the country, doesn't make any difference what the athletic event is," said Steve Handler.
The FGCU women play again Saturday at 1:30, there are games scheduled through the weekend, including the championship game Sunday night at 7:30.
