I-75 in Bradenton shut down due to overturned tanker

**UPDATE (9:45AM)** -- FHP now says all lanes in both directions are fully open again.

**UPDATE (7:30AM)** -- FHP says that all northbound lanes are open again at Mile Marker 213 University Parkway).  All southbound lanes remain closed at Mile Marker 217 (S.R. 70) in Bradenton.

The Florida Highway Patrol says lanes are closed on I-75 in Bradenton after an accident involving a fuel tanker. 

There were minor injuries reported. 

A fuel tanker and two other vehicles were involved in the crash. The fuel tanker was carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel at the time of the crash. Officials believe 500 gallons was lost due to the crash.

 

 

 

The DOT is on scene to assess the road after the fuel tanker is removed from the roadway. At this time, it is not known when the tanker will be removed from the roadway.  

The northbound and southbound lanes of I-75 at University Parkway are closed and traffic is being diverted to eastbound University Parkway to Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
