Ida Baker music teacher fired

Posted

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Two weeks after being busted for drinking alcohol during the school day, the band teacher at Ida Baker High School was fired according to documents released by the Lee County School Board Friday.

The report says Cadrick Smith was in his car at the North Ft. Myers Academy of the Arts on March 18th.

An assistant principal walked by and noticed 4 beer cans inside after Smith rolled down the window to say hello.

Smith was asked how many beers he drank that day, and in the report, he replied "two, one at lunch at Applebee's, and one at home on the way back to NFMAA."

A breathlyzer test was administered, the results of which were left out of the report, but the documents say Smith was told to take a cab home.

Reached by phone Friday night, Smith told Fox-4 he was taking some "personal time," and was "not going to say anything."
