COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- An Immokalee man was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies say he used a machete to seriously injure a woman after an argument.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a house in the 400 block of 15th Street NE in Immokalee just after 10:30pm Friday night.  Deputies arrived to find a dazed and bloodied woman outside the home.

Investigators spoke to a witness at the scene who indicated the suspect was still in the house.  38-year-old Albert Zamora was ordered out of the house and taken into custody.

The witness told deputies that he heard the female victim screaming outside the home and saw Zamora striker her with the machete while she was in a defensive position.  The witness intervened and was able to secure the machete until authorities arrived.

The victim was declared a trauma alert and flown to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment to numerous lacerations on the head and a severe laceration on the arm.

Zamora was taken to the hospital for stitches to a head laceration and arrested upon release.  He has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and Aggravated Assault with Intent to Kill, both felonies.
