FORT MYERS, Fla.-  A Florida Department of Corrections inmate who walked away from a work detail on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University this afternoon is in custody.

Sources confirm 37 year old Ricky Nelson walked off from his work detail around 1PM.  Within half an hour, staff workers found the man walking on the South Village Bridge walking toward the South Village part of campus where freshmen dorms are located.

There were no students living in the dorms when the incident happened.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office and Florida Gulf Coast University campus police worked together to help find the inmate.

Nelson was in prison on drug charges.
