NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Police were able to track down a shoplifter that made a run for it and tried to deceive cops by trimming his pants.

According to the North Port Police Department, 21-year-old Randy Greene of Port Charlotte is charged with Grand Theft, False ID, and Resisting Arrest.

Police say Greene was caught shoplifting a TV, phone, and sheets from the Walmart in North Port.  When authorities attempted to stop him, he ran into the Home Depot next door and fled out the back of the store and into the woods.  Greene was located by officers who noted that he had cut his khaki pants into shorts, and had several cuts on his legs.

Greene gave officers a fake name, but a run of his fingerprints revealed his real name and multiple warrants for his arrest.
