Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Law enforcement all across Southwest Florida are seeing a trend in F-series truck thefts.

Police said the truck's versatility makes them easy targets.

"These types of trucks are very frequently stolen because they are widely used throughout a number of industries," Sgt. Dana Coston with Cape Coral Police said.

Law enforcement officials said crooks can bypass the ignition system and can take off with the trucks within a matter of seconds. Police said thieves who have their eyes on these certain model, likely don't plan on keeping the truck in one piece. They are often times taken across the state and sold for parts in chop shops.

Police want to remind owners to always lock their doors and don't keep spare keys inside the vehicle.
