Lee County career criminal wanted for burglaries

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a series of car burglaries and thefts over the last few weeks in Fort Myers.

Detectives want to talk with 20-year-old James Hildreth and are working to connect him to the crimes. Hildreth is believed to be armed with a gun stolen from one of the cars.

He's already on law enforcement's radar, with an arrest sheet that began when he was 15 years old, leading to jail time for burglaries, grand theft and robbery.  Last month he was incarcerated for multiple burglaries, thefts, and illegal use of a credit card.

Investigators say he is known to have gang affiliations.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hildreth is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
