Whether its dropping off ballots, or registering to vote the lee county elections office is seeing a lot of action ahead of Tuesday's primary.

"People are getting extremely interested we've gotten some really good numbers from early voting and our mail ballots are way up from what we had in 2012, said Sharon Harrington, Lee County Supervisor of Elections.

Harrington told Fox 4 close to 25,000 votes have already been cast, an increase from early votes in 2012 which were around 18,000.

She says it's proof voters are passionate about their candidates.

"The different debates they have been volatile in many cases and I think this has really gotten people stirred up."

It's definitely stirring up first-time voter, Daniel Westman.

"Everybody needs to vote more than ever now just because it really matters," said Westman. "Nobody's saying the same thing at this point."

Westman will not be able to vote in Tuesday's primary because he missed the 29 day registration window, but he says he's looking ahead to the general election.

"I want to vote for Bernie Sanders, unless he doesn't make the primaries then i'll probably vote for Hillary just for the sake of it," Westman

He's now one of the more than 425,000 registered voters in Lee County  who will help determine which candidates will win Florida.

"It's going to be very unique to see where this is all going to pan out, said Harrington."
