FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A former ER nurse with Lee Health has just been convicted of stealing, and altering, medication.

Alex Rodriguez, who has since been fired, pleading guilty to six medical fraud charges.

Investigators say between May and August of 2016, he would steal power pain-killers while on duty, and then refill the vials with saline in the bathroom.  This reportedly to feed his own drug habit.

As part of his plea deal, Rodriguez will spend the next 60 months on drug-offender probation.

He must also forfeit his nursing license, pay a $500 fine and court costs, and do community service.
