FORT MYERS, Fla-- Liberty Tax in N. Fort Myers is holding a fundraiser after losing an employee in a fatal car accident March 5th. The funds raised will be given to the family to help pay for funeral expenses as well as other needs.

22-year-old Joniesha Gadson and her cousin Nate Perkins died after clipping a trailer which was parked along I-75 after having engine troubles. Another family member, 21-year-old Sharnice Brown was in the car at the time of the accident and survived the crash.

Gadson was a former explorer with the Lee County Sheriff's Office, a former manager of a pizza store, volunteered with special needs kids in the Dunbar community and an employee at Liberty Tax. Her mother said she always had a smile on her face and was never late for anything.

“To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late and to be late is unacceptable. She used to tell me that so much, now I remember it, I remember it in my heart," said Gadson's mother Makina Wilkerson.

After hearing the tragic news, Liberty Tax decided to step in and help the family with expenses. The company is holding a fundraiser at several store locations.

“Anything would help you know. Whatever they could drop off so we could give her a nice donation to help her with her expenses,“ said Liberty Tax office manager Lori Andrews.

Andrews said they've raised $100 so far.
