Local election results for March 15th

Voters in Florida headed to the polls Tuesday to cast their vote for their political party's presidential candidate.  But there were also a few local elections on the line.

In Lee County, some voters had several local items on ballots.

Bonita Springs voters are deciding on a new mayor to replace Ben Nelson, who has reached term limit. City council seats in districts 1 and 2 are also up for grabs.

In Fort Myers Beach, voters are looking to fill two town council seats, as well as decide on 21 referendums.

Polls close at 7pm, and results should start appearing shortly after.

In Collier County, Naples voters have three mayoral candidates on the ballot, including current mayor John Sorey.  Six city council candidates are also on the ballot to fill three spots.

Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades County voters have only the presidential primary to vote on.

Statewide election results for the Presidential Preference Primary can be viewed on the Florida Election Watch website.

REMINDER: In Florida, voters can only participate in the primary for the political party they're registered for.  So registered Republicans can vote only for Republican candidates, etc.
