A woman said that a ring worth thousands of dollars was stolen from her finger while she was being treated a Collier County hospital. Kathy Sue LeHockey believes the theft happened while she was unconscious and in critical care at NCH North Naples, on Health Park Boulevard near Goodlette-Frank and Immokalee Roads.

LeHockey said her husband had asked her if she wanted him to hold onto the ring when they arrived at the hospital.

"I said 'no, you know I never take those off,'" Lehockey said Monday. "So I didn't. And one of the nurses said, 'oh, that is such a beautiful ring.'"

The ring was a gift from her husband.

"That ring has meant a lot to me," she said.

She said that she later drifted in and out of consciousness after medical staff gave her narcotics, but was only at NCH North Naples for less than a day before being transferred to NCH Downtown.

"When they transported me over to downtown is when I noticed it was gone," Lehockey said.

LeHockey told police she never personally removed the ring from her finger, and did not give anyone permission to remove it. She signed a statement wishing to press charges.
