LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- It's been a dramatic week at the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam nest with new eggs arriving, as well as some uninvited intruders.
The good news is that Harriet laid egg #2 on Saturday evening in her North Fort Myers nest. Her first egg arrived just four days before that.
But there have been other stressful events in the nest.
Nest watchers reported on Wednesday that an owl attack had everyone on high alert, but all the eagles appeared to be okay. There have been several other owl attacks at the nest this year already.
Then on Sunday, Harriet went into nest protection mode when an intruder eagle appeared near the nest. Resident male M15 was nowhere to be found at the time, but returned to the nest later that day.
