PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. --- Charlotte County Animal Services is looking for five pit bulls that reportedly attacked a man on Easy Street.
The incident happened Monday in James Truckenbrod's yard. He said five pit bulls, some brown-red in color and one black, jumped over his fence and viciously attacked him and his smaller dogs.
Truckenbrod suffered serious injuries to both his legs. His dogs are OK.
"I have never been through such an experience in my life," Truckenbrod said. "They had two of my dogs, and the other three had me."
Truckenbrod credits his neighbor for saving him, after the neighbor leaped over his fence and scared the dogs away with a machete. Several neighbors were approached by the dogs as well.
Neighbors believe the dog's aggressive behavior is consistent with dogs raised specifically for fighting.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of the dogs, or who the owners are, call Animal Services.
