The Cape Coral community hosted their fifth annual Trunk or Treat event. Each car decorated the back of their trunk with a theme. A pirate ship, Andy's bed from Toy Story, and spiderwebs were some of the themes just to name a few.
Today, the event began at 12 PM and lasted all afternoon. Trunk or Treat is one of the biggest community events in Cape Coral-- the waiting line wrapped around the street!
It didn't cost anything to participate and candy was provided for every kid. Volunteer Jeff Ekiss says there were over 50,000 pieces of candy provided this year!
Thousands of people joined in on the fun and local organizations participated too. Fire fighters, police officers and truck drivers were happy to support the annual event.
Kids like Ethan say they "looked forward to this event because there was going to be so much candy." Moms like Maria say Trunk or Treat is a way to bond with her son and "enjoy the Halloween festivities."
The 6th annual Trunk or Treat is expected to be held in Cape Coral next fall.
