FORT MYERS, Fla — The American Heart Association of Lee County hosted a Heart Walk Saturday to support efforts on health education and equality.

People in Southwest Florida could participate by walking in their neighborhoods as part of the 2020 Lee Heart Walk Digital Experience.

Organizers said the walk was a great way to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise money, and encourage physical activity.

"Now, more than ever, we're all looking for ways to connect with others, stay active and stay encouraged," SWFL Executive Director Kelly Glewa said. "This online format allows everyone who's adapted to spending more time at home to get outside and be active with their family."

The walk began at 8 a.m. Participants had the option to take photos and share them with the association on Facebook.
