CAPE CORAL, Fla. — People are still angry about a hit-and-run that killed 8-year-old Layla Aiken in Cape Coral.
“The fact that he left the scene of an accident, especially with a little kid, I think that is unforgivable,” Stephen Early said.
And why Logan Hetherington was released on bond from jail today, after being arrested by Cape Coral police yesterday on four charges, including leaving the scene of a traffic crash with a fatality, vehicular homicide, and possession of cannabis under 20 grams.
The Cape Coral Police report also states Hetherington did not speak with police because they would “twist his words.” The record also shows Hetherington google searched “what does a computer device in a car read” and “how hard do you have to hit a car to set off impact sensor.”
Police confirm DNA testing determined it was Hetherington’s car that killed Layla, also finding 2.7 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.
Hetherington’s next court date is June 24.
