FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The man charged with taping a dog's mouth shut is expected to begin Tuesday in Lee County.

The dog may look familiar to you because the Lee County Sheriff's Office adopted him, naming him Deputy Chance.

18-year-old Oscar Thompson, III was arrested back in May. This was after Chance was found on the street with tape around his snout, hyperventilating and bleeding from open wounds.

The sheriff's report says Thompson's family had owned dog in the past.

We have a crew at the trial, and we'll bring you an update on Fox 4 News at 5.
