PUNTA GORDA, Fla — An Arcadia man is out on bond after being caught with a backpack full of drugs.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says on the morning of August 27th; deputies saw a silver Mercedes sedan speeding in the area of Shore Drive and Charlotte Street in Punta Gorda.
Investigators say the residence the vehicle pulled into is known for having drug activity.
Deputies say when they cut on their emergency lights to make a traffic stop, the driver, Justin M. O'Neil, tried to drive away but couldn't.
O'Neil refused to give deputies his I.D, or even speak to them.
A K-9 officer did an air stiff and gave deputies his a positive response for narcotics.
Deputies searched the vehicle and found a black and white Nike backpack with 10.7 grams of Methamphetamine inside plastic baggies.
They also found a transparent navy waterproof container that had five additional baggies with a total weight of 376.8 grams of Methamphetamine.
Investigators say the case also contained three separate baggies for a total of sixty Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills. The pills tested positive for Heroin/Fentanyl.
There were also two small baggies of Oxymorphone Hydrochloride pills, and another plastic baggie containing 3.4 grams of Fentanyl in the case.
O'Neil is facing multiple drug charges. He was also issued a traffic warning for speeding.
