Arrest made after driver flees crash on foot in North Fort Myers overnight

UPDATE (1 PM) -- Troopers have arrested a North Fort Myers man after they say he fled a crash scene on foot early Monday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Parker Smith was driving a Kia northbound on U.S. 41 with three passengers, ages 12 through 21. Troopers say the right side of his car struck the left side of another northbound vehicle, sending them both into a ditch along the roadway.

Smith then fled the scene on foot. Troopers later arrested him at his home. He is charged with Hit & Run with Property Damage, Hit & Run with Injury, and Careless Driving.

One passenger in the other vehicle had minor injury and was treated at Lee Memorial Hospital.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- We're tracking breaking news from overnight in North Fort Myers, there was an apparent hit and run crash between three cars and a pick-up truck.

This happened around 1:50 a.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of on U.S. 41 near Mariana Avenue.

According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, there were injuries in this crash. They say they'll release a full report on the crash later Monday morning.

There was also a slight road block, though that roadblock has since been cleared up.
