LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- One woman is dead and another man was critically injured Saturday night in a Lehigh Acres stabbing incident, and deputies say they've arrested the man responsible.

26-year-old Michael Swisher has been booked on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Deputies say he is a family friend of the victims.

It happened in the 1800 block of Acacia Avenue in Lehigh Acres.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Swisher stabbed a 46-year-old male and 47-year-old Tara Binkley in the driveway of a home, then fled on foot to a wooded area near Clark Avenue.

A K-9 unit tracked Swisher down and he was arrested after being treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

The male victim was taken to the hospital for life threatening injuries. Binkley died from her injuries.

The sheriff's office's Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.
