FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Art Fest officials say they expect close to 100,000 people to attend Fort Myers Art Fest this weekend, and they say even with the chance for rain, the festival will not be stopped!

This weekend Art Fest celebrates 20 years of showcasing artists from around the world.

However, with rain in the forecast and cooler temperatures, some are concerned that it could impact the event.

One artist traveled from North Carolina with his family to participate, and he says he's worried about sales.

“People don’t come out in rainy weather and spend money, so that’s a concern when you drove 12 hours ,and get a hotel room for 3 days, so those are the obvious concerned,” said Leif Erik Johansen, a mixed media artist.

Jennifer Peck is another artist showcasing at the festival, she says, don't let a few drops of rain stop you from heading to the event.

“I really encourage everybody to just brave the rain, and just come out and see us, even if there is a little bit, come out and see us”, said Peck.

Festival committee members agree, John Melleky with Art Fest Fort Myers says they've made adjustments for the rain.

“Tomorrow we have plans to move the chalk block inside where the kids can actually still work on their chalk drawing inside., and then Sunday is going to be great, we are expecting great weather on Sunday so people can come out and enjoy”, said Melleky.

Melleky says overall, go see the art!

“It’s going to be a great weekend we think, and even though it could be raining for part of it, people can still come out and enjoy, we’re open rain or shine”, said Melleky.
