A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a North Port woman.
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office says Robert A. Parolisi was stopped just north of Gainsville along I-75 Friday night. Authorities say he refused to get out of the car and waved a firearm.
Further investigation revealed he might have had several other firearms with him in the car, according to Alachua County deputies.
To keep other drivers safe, deputies say they had to shut down traffic in both directions.
Deputies say, Parolisi laid down his weapon and exited his car after 5 hours of negotiations.
Deputies arrested him and said he would be extradited back to Sarasota County to face his charges.
North Port Police say they are continuing to investigate the death of a female victim found dead with gunshot wounds at Parolisi's house. Police say the woman's body was found in the house shortly before 6 p.m. Friday night.
Police say the victim and the suspect knew each other.
