CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- If you have beach plans this weekend, you may want to steer clear of a few beaches in our area.

According to the Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County, a beach advisory was issued for Port Charlotte Beach West and Boca Grande after high levels of bacteria were found in the water.

If the bacteria is ingested it could cause rashes, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

The beach will remain open, but officials say wading or swimming isn't recommended.

We will update you when the advisory is lifted.
