Banning alcohol sales during emergencies, considered

Posted

CAPE CORAL, Fla.-- The city council is considering an ordinance which would suspend the sale of alcohol during an emergency.

However, in order to do this, a state of emergency would have to be declared. The governor of Florida and local city governments both have the authority to declare a state of emergency.

Local officials with the city of Sanibel suspended the sale of alcohol during Hurricane Irma.
